Dados Históricos: Castiçal, candeeiro com um só foco luminoso, como vela ou lâmpada, foi um elemento determinante na decoração das casas. Desde sua criação (sem data especifica), constituiu-se numa peça indispensável para clarear a mesa, a toalete e toda a atividade noturna das moradias. Compõe-se de três partes: base, haste e aparador ou arandela. Com base nesses elementos, os ourives fizeram deste objeto, do século XVII ao século XIX, um perfeito espelho dos estilos sucessivos da época: do barroco ao rocaille, e deste estilo movimentado ao rigor do neoclássico, seguindo ora influência francesa, ora inglesa. As bases variam de redondas a quadradas — e a decoração acompanha o estilo da época em que o objeto é confeccionado. Existem centenas de modelos e chama-se castiçal apenas quando é com encaixe para 01 vela; para 02 ou mais, é chamado de candelabro.

Historical data: Candlestick, lamp with a single luminous focus, such as candle or lamp, was a determining element in the home decoration. Since its creation (without a specific date), it has been an indispensable piece for lighten the table, the toilet and all the night activity of the houses. It consists of three parts: base, stem and sideboard or sconce. Based on these elements, goldsmiths made this object, from the 17th century to the 19th century, a perfect mirror of the successive styles of the time: from baroque to rocaille, and from that style moved to the rigor of the neoclassical, following French influence, sometimes English. The bases vary from round to square – and the decoration follows the style of the time when the object is made. There are hundreds of models and it is called candlestick only when it is fitted with 01 candle; for 02 or more, it is called a chandelier.
