As celebrações nos altares e nos presbitérios das igrejas são realizadas com objetos de arte sacra que são chamados de objetos litúrgicos que o clero usa nas cerimônias: Mas vocês sabem o que são esses objetos litúrgicos?

      Os objetos litúrgicos, também chamados de “alfaias”, são aqueles objetos de arte sacra, que estão a serviço da liturgia e ao uso sagrado, são feitos de metal dourado e ornados de tal forma que invoquem o mistério sagrado para que eles servem. 

      No Museu de Arte Sacra de Mato Grosso, temos um acervo de objetos litúrgicos que eram utilizados em celebrações na Igreja Nossa Senhora do Rosário e de São Benedito, são peças datadas dos séculos XVII, XVIII, XIX e XX, feitas em metal, prata ou metal dourado.

      Dentre os objetos temos: Ostensório ou custódia, uma peça geralmente usada para expor solenemente a hóstia grande consagrada no altar ou transportar em procissão. Castiçais, crucifixos de mesa, suporte de óleo, sinetas, usados nas cerimônias religiosas por acólitos e coroinha, para chamar a atenção dos fiéis nos momentos mais importantes das missas.

      Candelabros de três, cinco e sete ramificações, sendo esse último geralmente utilizado diante do Santíssimo Sacramento, ou em celebrações solenes com participação do bispo, a Caldeirinha e Hissope, usados para aspergir água benta nos fiéis  e nos objetos ou em locais a serem abençoados, a âmbula, um recipiente para a conservação e distribuição das hóstias aos fiéis e a patena um pequeno prato, geralmente de metal usada pelo sacerdote para colocar a hóstia grande consagrada, o cálice é o vaso sagrado ele é reservado para conter o sangue de Jesus Cristo e antigamente era chamado de cálice todos os vasos que eram reservados para se tomar vinho e normalmente tinha uma boca larga com alças na lateral.

     Além disso, temos também os lampadários dos séculos XIII e XIX, que assim como os tocheiros eram utilizados para a iluminação da igreja. Feitos de metal fundido ou prata.
