A Patena é uma espécie de prato utilizado pelos católicos nas Missas onde se consagra o pão e o vinho, transubstanciando-os em Corpo e Sangue de Cristo. A patena é o recipiente sagrado onde o sacerdote coloca o pão (hóstia) que ele, durante estas celebrações, toma e parte.

Patena is a type of dish used by Catholics in Masses where bread and wine are consecrated, transubstantiation them in the Body and Blood of Christ. The paten is the sacred container where the priest places the bread (wafer) that he, during these celebrations, takes and breaks.
