Dados Históricos: Santa Ana foi a mãe da Virgem Maria e avó de Jesus Cristo. Ana, cujo nome em hebraico significa graça, pertencia à família do sacerdote Aarão. Seu marido, São Joaquim, pertencia à família real de Davi. Conta-se que Joaquim foi censurado pelo sacerdote Rúben por não ter filhos, quando Santa Ana já era idosa e estéril. Confiando no poder divino, São Joaquim retirou-se ao deserto para rezar e fazer penitência, e ali um anjo lhe apareceu, dizendo que Deus havia ouvido suas preces, após seu retorno Santana fica gestante e nasce Maria e suas irmãs Maria Salomé e Maria Cleofas.
